Roussens became a master carpenter in 1757 and had an established family workshop in Toulouse. These chairs are likely the work of his son, who became a master in 1784 and used the same stamp as his father. The Roussens' production of seating and furniture is highly refined and original, making them the principal suppliers to the nobility of Toulouse.
